Effective Date: May 2025
This document outlines the operational policy of The Abandonware Ring regarding the use of TAR Tokens and the handling of funds within the marketplace. This policy is legally grounded in the jurisdiction of Guernsey, Channel Islands. For regulatory authorities or compliance reference, view our Formal TAR Token Legal Policy.
1. What is the TAR Token?
- The TAR Token is a unit of account within the marketplace that represents pending seller funds.
- It is not a cryptocurrency or tradable security, and holds no value outside the ecosystem.
- TAR Tokens are allocated to sellers only when a buyer purchases an item. No user purchases TAR Tokens directly.
2. Use of TAR Tokens
- Sellers may use TAR Tokens to purchase items on the platform or request a withdrawal.
- TAR Tokens are tied to confirmed marketplace earnings only.
- Users may not transfer TAR Tokens to other users.
3. Escrow & Payout Mechanism
- Payments from buyers are held temporarily by us via PayPal until delivery and confirmation.
- Funds remain in escrow and are not remitted to the seller until the transaction is deemed complete.
- At completion, sellers may request withdrawal or convert balance into internal purchases.
4. Legal Classification
- The TAR Token is not regulated as e-money or a cryptoasset under UK or EU law.
- As a Guernsey-based business, we are not subject to UK FCA regulations for this type of internal credit system.
- We do not operate a trading exchange, nor allow speculative TAR purchases.
5. User Funds and Liability
- All funds represented by TAR are actual buyer payments held in secure business PayPal accounts.
- Users retain the right to request withdrawal of earned funds, subject to fraud and dispute checks.
- We are not a bank, and no interest is paid on TAR balances.
6. Refunds and Reversals
- If a transaction is reversed or refunded, TAR balance may be adjusted accordingly.
- Sellers engaging in dishonest conduct forfeit balance and account status.
- We reserve the right to hold or freeze payouts under investigation.
7. Transparency & Communication
- Sellers can view balance, withdrawal history, and dispute flags from their dashboard.
- All major changes to TAR policy will be posted on this page and notified in advance when practical.
