Legacy News #1628

Since Latis didn't have the time to tell who updated what, I took the liberty of pointing that out :) Long time since last update anyways, and since we at TDS have another review in this update push, the brag factor may commence.

  • Abandonia has updates now almost daily, and sometimes twice a day! In this push they give us Seymour Goes To Hollywood, an arcade platform game where you control Seymour in Hollywood seeking fame and fortune by starting at the bottom and working your way up. In addition, they've updated the audio section with some niftyness from Another World.

  • The french Abandonware Utopia packs a punch this time with Need for Speed, a real block buster that I recon does not need any introduction. The original game that has spawned alot of sequels and the like. They also added A Cruise for a Corpse, a game much like Broken Sword, adventure with more mysteries and point 'n click than you can shake a stick at.

  • DOS Museum added Heroes: The Tantalizing Trio an arcade game much similar to Captain Comic, and Super ZZT which is a game creation system with alot of fan-made levels around. Actually, this is one the staff's pages, Swizzle to be more spesific.

  • We over at The DOS Spirit hands your some solid piece of adventuring in the first installment of Westwoods Kyrandia-triology, The Legend of Kyrandia. The animations alone will make you drool. Enough said.

  • J The Man and his Just Games Retro injects some nostalgia for the Sega system by adding reviews for Power Factory, a game where you can edit hits from the group "C+C" (why would anyone want to edit music videos in a game in the first place!?@#) which seems to suck solid donkey, and Bram Stoker's Dracula, a sidescrolling "Mortal Combat"-inspired game that seems to try a little too hard. Anyhoe, read his reviews for the picture comments, they make up for the lousy games he reviews :)

  • Old Games for you adds Wastelands, a roleplaying game that's set in the future after a nuclear holocaust of WWIII. There's also a twisted plot dwelling in the background, and you have to travel from town to town, discovering what's threatening what's left of mankind.

  • Oldschool Computer packs this update with Garfield and S.C.A.T, both for the Nintendo.

  • The Abandonware Blog discussed different happenings in the AW-scene. Among other things, they've noticed that A Force For Good started their own journal, Latis joined the Abandonwarering, 3DRealms released Halloween Harry as freeware and Swizzle's newest project, DOS Museum.

  • Kon-Tiki tells us over at The Freehare that the Beats of Rage competition is over, and that you can read more about the results at his forum post. Beats of Rage is a freeware community made game by The Senile Team, and looks similar to The Punisher, Street Fighter and any old popular beat'em up game. The graphics are freaking sweet. See for yourself here!

  • Latis himself and his XTC Abandonware wants us to enjoy Empire - War of the Century. A strategy game from 1988 where you basically are out to annihilate your enemy in a way that looks similar to Civilization.

That was longer than expected, anyhow, for your viewing pleasure. All sites in this update push with what they've updated. My suggestion is however for all webmaster to work in their "recent updates" sections. They're often not too well shown, which may result in gomping around your site finding out what's new. A lesson for next time people!

Until next time, here's a random screenshot for you to figure out:

"That's a mighty fine castle sir!"

If you know what it is, post a message under "Current News" in our forums! Something nice may happen to you!
