Legacy News #1850

Great news anyone! More updates for you to look at!

I've been scouting around ebay lately for old games, and holy hell it's a TREASURE CHEST out there!! Just during the past 2 weeks I've managed to get a hold of these games in ORIGINAL boxes:

- Lost Eden
- Gobliiins and Gobliins 2: The Prince Buffoon
- King's Quest V and King's Quest VI
- Ecstatica 1 and Ecstatica 2
- Carmageddon
- X-com Apocalypse
- X-com Terror From the deep

I finished a dear old game of mine yesterday, Lost Eden - took me the better part of 10 hours or so. But heck and holy hell, it's one great adventure from start to finish. I had the demo many years back, but never made it out of the starting castle, so it was a huge experience to behold its whole glory and storyline. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

It's strange yet compelling to install an old game from its original CD and complete it, there's an eerie feeling of times past and how great the gaming industry once was. Until they furked themselves in the a** by focusing better graphics at the cost of no story or game-feeling at all, of course. Both me and Gathilas have talked about how the industry is milking their money-making cows and totally ditches work on important follow-ups to gaming history's most important titles. I guess I won't need to say more than "Monkey" or "adventure" for people to understand what the world is waiting for. However, now and then, new series/titles surprise the public (like Aquaria from the indie developer Bit Blot), but far too many are the result of companyleaders hungry for green and abundant wallets than to satisfy the diversity and love for games that the world was blessed with in the 80s and 90s. There is a marked for old games!

Many people have understood this and created their own independent companies (indie developers) focusing on bringing us back to the days of pixels and great stories. There are many terrific games that purely was created to satisfy fans of respective genres, and honestly; people love it.

Well, enough rant for now. Take a look at the updates above and always remember that some things was better in the old days.

Oh, and let's not forget, a screenshot from the lovely Lost Eden (recommended here at the AWring some months back)
