Legacy News #1880

This great place, I liek sports. Buy cheap viagra!

Ah, the forums. A magnificent place to relax, talk to fellow sceners about the good old days, ask your burning questions and talk to people that are not people. Greeeat...wait, what? Oh, that's right, we forgot to tell you about those pesky spamrobots that wander around the intarweb spreading disease on forums. Even though we battle them pretty hard, we can't monitor the forums all the time. Hence, some of them come through until we give them the mahogny hand of justice and they're never seen again.

However, spam seem to have evolved, and even with the most secure forums out there, some still manage to get through. It's a inevitable truth many may have to live with, but they're pretty easy to spot, and as long as you don't follow any of their links you should be good. Rest assured we try our best to keep everything whistle clean, but if something comes through, the administrators would appreciate a PM.

As for the updates, they're as spamfree as they come. In today's headlines we got fresh bits of news from these:

A Force For Good hasn't updated in a while, but they're back with a review for Road Rash from 1996. They say it sucks, and judging by the screenshots you'll end up on the asphalt with a nasty rash and god-crying "WHY!?" as to why this game ever was conceived.

The goblin-inspired Abandonware - Stare Gry adds International Karate, and that very Dangerous Rick in both his endaevours.

Niklas and his C-DOS Abandonware (which is pretty slow at the time of writing), gives us a review of Anals of Rome...err, Annals of Rome, a Risk kind of game with EGA-graphics and lots and lots of numbers. Yay... There are also other older updates here to be seen.

What update is complete without an update from the most excellent DJ Oldgames and his Oldgames? This time they want us to save the princess and kill the dragon in Dragon's Lair III. It sort of looks like Torin's Passage with cartoony graphics and a wholehearted attempt to make another follow-up to the series. My guesses are, and judging by comments by others, is that this time it's at least, if not more, as unforgiving as the previous games. Take that as a warning, these games are hard as ass!

Holy hell, no..Holy File has in this update included Crusader No Remorse. According to The DOS Spirit's Nocturn it ruled back in the days, but today it stands back as a sorry excuse to digital entertainment.

Ah, good old The J Man surely knows how to kill people! Well, at least in his latest review over at Just Games Retro which is Postal Plus. The difference between the original Postal and Postal Plus is the inclusion of the SPecial Delivery Pack which adds only 4 levels and substitutes your wardrobe. The game was a huge success back in the days, mainly because it was gory, you could kill people, and downright evil - and without any reprecussions. Oh, the glory. But don't take my word for it, read Just Games Retro's review for yourself.

Old Games for You, yes YOU! boasts a challenge for everyone with the ultima inspired Times of Lore. Action RPG for all fans out there.

Oldschool Computer always has something nice for everyone out there. Amonst earlier updates we find a bunch of Lemmings games, Tank for the C64, Battle Tank and Front Line for the NES and most recently Stinger for the Nintendo Entertainment system. In Stinger, you'll have to save professor Cinnamon from the aliens. Hah, Cinnamon. I hope his sidekick is porridge.

We at The DOS Spirit wants you to both save some lives in Life and Death and then take your own after playing Curse of Enchantia. Let me just say this once and for all: This game sucks vacuum! Oh, dear lord, you'll have to look far and wide for a more malfunctioning adventure game with downright horrible controls and implausible riddles! Read for yourself, and stay the HELL away from this garbage!

Fun fact: Did you know that Curse of Enchantia was the first CD-game to be launched for the PC? It was bundled with many of the first CD-ROMs. Thanks wikipedia.

The Good Old Days challenges us to a game of billiard in Billiards from 1993. I guess there's not much more to say about that.

Phew, that was alot in one update. I think my keyboar.....
