Legacy News #2170

May 29, 2011 • Author: Bakkelun

Hallo iedereen!

Apparently that's "Hi everyone!" in dutch, or so Google tells me.

Anyways, remember last update? We asked the webmasters for some RPG titles? They've delivered! Here's the breakdown:

AbandonGames adds some functionality to see all their screenshots and box images in a larger format. Goodies!

Abandonware DOS is going out on adventure with "Universe" by Core Design. It follows the same "horrible execution" as the "Curse of Enchantia" game, using imo terrible gui for interaction. I wonder if the main hero can say anything else in this game besides "Help!" and "Hi!".

Computer Emuzone is also packing their adventure backpacks with a game I've never heard of, namely Arqumedes XXI. It's an adventure/rpg kind of game coded in basic apparently.

Free DOS Games are all out of bubblegum, but ready to kick ass with Duke Nukem 3D. I think everybody knows that game by now...

The place where every game resides, Game Graveyard adds three games this push. Primal Rage, a fighting game with dinosaurs, Tetris the all classic blocks puzzle game and Metal Mutant an arcade kind of game much like Shadow of the beast.

My Abandonware is taking us down the shooter lane with Corridor 7: Alien Invasion (wolfenstein 3d plagiarism indeed) and probably the most horrible game name this update: "Captain Bible in the Dome of Darkness"! Lol!! I don't even want to look up that game...

Jippi! Old games for meeee at Old Games for you has pushed out two new updates just in a couple of days! Well done! First one is a RPG game from Westwood Studios, namely Mines of Titan and the second is a cult classic cyberpunk bona fid game; System Shock from 1994 by Looking Glass Studios. Fps horror at its best.

RetroGames have added something mysterious and secret, namely "Secret Quest" for the Atari 2600! It's an arcade type of game where you move from room to room, vanquishing enemies, pixel style.

We're going to the ancient Egypt and to a city that's in trouble over at Revival of DOS Games because they've added Exhumed (aka Powerslave) and Duke Nukem 1. While the latter need no intro, the first is an fps game much like Blood, Quake and Witchhaven, but with an ancient Egypt setting.

Last, but not least, The Good Old Days added a review for the revamped Space Quest 1: The Sarien Encounter that Sierra released in 1991. Sporting fruitylicious VGA graphics, details are abound in this space adventure where nobody can hear you clean...

That's that for this update.

As always, stay retro!
