Legacy News #1269

Thank god it's sunday: a lot of time to update an abandonware site!

Today we welcome Abandonware Oldware back aboard, now with an english version of the site as well! That's great news for anyone that doesn't speak french, as Oldware is one of the major selections available to date.

Right, then we have a new applicant. I'm not adding it just now -- it's a cool site, with great design, but I'm trying to contact the webmaster to solve some pending details.

EDIT: All welcome Just Free Games, our newest member! They specialize in remakes and clones of classics like Pacman, Bomberman, Space invaders and such.

Then we have a whole bunch of updaters. Here they are:

Abandoneer added Ultima worlds of adventure 2: martian dreams this morning, a great roleplaying game, and reviews for five games added recently. More reviews are being written at this very moment.

Abandonia added three games in a row: the Dragonlance trilogy! More classic RPGs for your pleasure in this fine evening.

Abandonia Reloaded added two new games: Ikachan and Bernard & Hank. The latter is quite funny, looks like a unique action game starring... countryside farmers! Hah! Looks great. Oddly though, the reviewer said the official Bernard & Hank site only works in Firefox... when in fact I could only use it properly in Internet Explorer.

Abandonline added Abuse, an innovative and fast-paced action game.

Demu came with another wave of files: 15 new games and 5 new docs. They keep their steady growth!

Now, about the poll I proposed last thursday. Here are the results:

"Should Lone Lee fire LD and Swizzle from Abandonware Ring?"
Yes. 13065 (99.98469%)
No. 3 (0.02295%)

Whoa! Only three votes in favor of LD and Swizzle keeping their boring updates here at the Abandonware Ring (probably their own votes plus someone who was distracted and voted by mistake). Thirteen-thousand-sixty-five votes for me firing them instead, which is a reasonable sum (99.98469% of all voters).

Based on these results, I can safely say they're no longer needed -- according to the people's will, of course. But taking their long-term contributions to the site into account, I won't be firing them as asked by everyone. Instead, I'll be trying to talk them into quietly leaving their updates to me, people won't even notice the change, and after all, somebody still got to do the laundry and clean the restroom here at the office every now and then, so they will never be totally useless to the community.

This is it peopl , love you all!
