Legacy News #1310
Another fine day for updates around here. Why I tell you - back when I first got into abandonware, in the early days mind you, I had to connect to this site on a 14.4 kb modem - over the telephone lines (I kinda miss the ...copurghhhhhhhh the modem would make when it first connected). After waiting a minute for the page to load I would be "rewarded" with no updates. You were lucky if one or two abandonware sites updated per week. Now look at this - you can load this page in 2 seconds and what have we - an average of 8 sites updating daily? Bahumbug!
It's been my goal since last Friday to replace my computer chair, and get a pinball machine. I don't know about you, but I come up with things like this on a fairly often basis (The new desk and entertainment center I ordered from Ikea two weeks ago hasn't even arrived yet - don't worry, I will let you know when they do). The first problem was easy to fix - I wen't out to my local Office Depot store and dished out $300 for an "executive leather" chair. Let me tell you it is the most comfortable chair I've ever owned. You just sink into it when you sit down (even the arm rests have leather padding) and it even reclines. Much better than my old hard nylon chair which I've had since... ~1998. If you spend more than 4 hours at a computer during the day you really need to think about getting a good chair.
The second issue though - the pinball machine is a little tougher. Now I already have an ArcadePC made by HanaHo Games with ~3,800 arcade games loaded on it. (The best home arcade system you can get if you have $4,000 sitting around). It was a gift to myself right before I entered college four years ago. Let me tell you it's one sad apartment seeing a full size arcade machine, but no pinball machine to play on.
Anyways, moving along. My first choices for pinball machines were priced between $4,000-8,000 dollars. There is no way I'm going to be able to see one of those anytime soon in my game room. So I ended up "settling" for an Elvira and the Party Monsters (Information and Pictures here). I found a local seller who had one for just the right price, and I can pick it up late next week. I will get some pictures up of my setup so you can see it when everything comes in. Maybe I will even make a "game room" section to the site where users can submit pictures of their game rooms and we can see who's king... yes I think that is a great idea. Lo e Lee... I have some more code for you to write, lol.
