A collection of our news articles and updates, spanning over 20 years!
Almost end of this week, and time for an update to fresh up the next!
It seems like all of the updaters added Command & Conquer! Woo!
Okay, I'll stop now :)
To take some of the updates in this push:
OldSchool DOS added Iron Blood from 1995, a game where you control one of either two robots and blast enemies throughout a bunch of levels. Graphics seems pretty decent, and gives me the vibes to 2097: One must fall.
Abandonia fills this update with Contraption Pack from 1992. You control one of the guys at Gadget Co. and have to solve puzzles and such to retrieve your tools and fix machinery around in the company plant.
My bro, Nocturn, over at the The DOS Spirit added Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father and Master of Magic.
Reloaded packs 2 new titles this push, those being Cooldog: A platform kind of game where you control a dog and his sidekick mouse to fight evil and Double Dragon - Fists of Rage that I believe does not need an introduction. Go download these NOW!
Gobliins Old Games simply can't stop adding games! Six new ones to be spesific, for you to enjoy, these are: King's Quest 2 - Romancing the Stones, Pinball Fantasies, Elf, Speedball, Spear Ressurection (remake of spear of destiny!) and Worms.
The Game Archives have added some new odd files for the Amstrad, and their total files for that platform is now 11216. Now that is something you can shake a stick at.
Oh boy, oh boy! I got my hands on my very own copy of "Command & Conquer: The First Decade" yesterday. Taken into consideration that it's nearly 11 years since I last played the original (with video, music and the whole package), yesterday was quite a magic one!
"The First Decade" is an absolute must in case you don't happen to have the originals in their cases. And if you do, do not EVER sell them, like I once did :( ! The pleasure of mowing through the levels is a retro experience without comparison. Interlaced videos for each mission including real actors, the graphics and the soundtrack. Rejoice the old days! I simply can't wait to get home from work and relive more memories from the series. The Red Alert Windows 95 version is even obtainable from Westwoods Ftp! Since I'm in such a good mood, you can get it here: RA95 Demo
The updates? Ah, almost forgot. Here they are:
Abandonia adds Command & Conquer, BC's Quest for Tires where you control a caveman on a tire, and Dream Team 3 on 3 Challenge a street basketball game.
Gobliins Old Games have added Harlem Globber Trotters and Hard Drivin II and Command & Conquer.
Abandon World seems to have packed this update with a cd version of Ignition and Command & Conquer of course, though I can't say I'm sure. Slovakian is not my strongest side.
I just have to end this update with a screenshot:
Yours sincerely,
Command&Conquer
(In case you didn't get it: None of the sites added Command & Conquer in this push)
As pointed out by Neopickaze from DaFastLane some time ago, a great deal of abandonware sites has been appearing in east Europe -- mostly quality sites that don't speak english. Here we have a new one in our listings: all welcome AbandonWorld, our newest member!
I refused one application today and I know Bakkelun refused a few others yesterday, not because the sites were bad but because once again they didn't comply to our simple rules of membership. Go figure. So, umm, now I see we don't have any more new applicants to review -- you other applicants know what happened then. If you choose to re-apply, please consider reading our rules of membership and preparing your sites accordingly.
On the updates side.... lots of updates. Today's highlight is once again The Game Archives, adding a few more thousands of games... ah the old and good times of sites with endless lists of direct links to the files... practically no information, just the file-leeching it's been a while...
