Legacy News #2291

July 29, 2013 • Category: Uncategorized • Author: Bakkelun • 💬 0 comments

Hello over there! Wow, it's been a long time since we (or I) did an update. It's mostly calm these days because of summer. However, we still have updates for you to consume, they are above.

If you're wondering what to fill the wonderful season of summer with, here are some classic recommendations that has entertained a plethora of young people back in the day and still do.

Retro Summer Selection

California Games series

Nothing says summer quite like California! Released on almost every console at its time, California Games offered a selection of mini games that were fun for the whole family.

Track & Field

The sport game that put everyone in the neighbourhood against each other on the same tv screen! It's never been this fun to run hurdles or throw disco wheels around the field in this lighthearted but intense sport game.

Jazz the Jackrabbit

The green rambo rabbit offered the world of platforming on PC a relevation. Lush graphics, fun characters and smooth gameplay made for a gaming experience only Epic Megagames (then) only knew how to make. It has since then spawned at least 5 other games. Recommended.

Where in the World is Carmen San Diego series

Oh that culprit Carmen. She's always roving around the world stealing things that costs a fortune and it's up to us to get them back. Disguised as a learning and detective game, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego (and every derivative later on) offered a great mix of learning some history and getting to know our world while having a blast.

FIFA series (the older ones of course!)

FIFA International Soccer (or FIFA 94)

Probably the biggest sport in the world got its main blast off with FIFA 94, an unserious, but still very entertaining football game. The pitch was isometric and every player name had been slightly altered due to licensing rights. That caused for some hilarious names. FIFA 96 by the way the first "3D" game in the series, and was actually very solid. Recommended for some long summer days of throw ins, insane freekicks and crazy goalie saves.

Until next time, stay retro!
