Legacy News #1522

October 06, 2006 • Author: Bakkelun

Abacadabra!
*smoke covers the scene, strobelight cover the floor and up from nowhere bakkelun appears!*

Salutations fellow retro laddies! Long time since any updates from my part, so here's one to set things right.

First of all, after taking up one idea of mine to one of the others here at the AWring, we're planning on testing something that might be what the scene needs. More specifically scene-interviews! Here's a quote:

"I've been plonkering with an interesting thought for some time, and I believe it's time to see if it works.

How would you like to represent your own site in an all "unofficial", laid-back and relaxed text (or voice) interview by one of the staffs here? Mostly to provide the scene with some interaction that there are real people behind our listed sites and they all have different interesting stories to tell (i.e love the old classics! and such).

Think of it as the AWring's version of Designer Threads (those on Gamespot), where we (or I) invite all of the sceners out there in an all "episode fashioned way" to take some minutes chatting (mIRC mostly) about how we all got to where we are, how did you come up with the name for your site, what the future of the retro-world brings and the like. The interview log will then be posted on the AWring, for everyone to enjoy and behold.

If you like the idea, and would like to be interviewed about your site(s) throw me an email stating name, age, sites you "work" for and some general info about you, and we'll get back in touch. Trust me, it's all relaxed, and there are no hard decisions you'll have to make (before the 5-second timer runs out!).

Mails go here (no spam thank you):
"

First I'll have to check out with the "big guys" out there, to see if they'd like to meet such a "challenge". For updates on that matter, we'll keep you posted. Meanwhile we will accept emails on the stated adress above. Keep 'em coming!

Right, the updates. Let's see, what do we have here:

The Abandonware Blog has posted a video from Quest for Glory III, talking about some of the nifty easter eggs found in that game. Also in this update, there's a news post about a site named Wolfendoom, with add-ons for Doom II based on Wolfenstein 3D and a site dedicated to Whacy Wheels - one addicting racing game indeed.

TNAAF seems to have updated something on their forums, but it's quite hard finding out what. Throttle them to see what's up.

Old Games for You packs this update with BloodNet, a game where you play as either a computer hacker, scrounger or mercenary caught up in a sinister world featuring evil global corporations, cyberspace fights and vampires. Well worth checking out. I remember playing this myself, a pretty strange game to say the least.

Gobliins Old Games added Sim City on 4th of October and in this update; Sabre Team a strategy game much like jagged alliance in many ways. Oh, and a note to the webmaster: Give us an english version of the site, that would be a blast!

Lastly Joe Games seems to have updates, but since my spanish/portugese sucks, I had to give babelfish a go. Heh, the translation is hilarious:
"Good ladies and gentlemen, already I have put all the pagina to the day or in the matter of unloading and imagenes, since habia an amount that did not work now, we will continue putting new games, and at any time it waits for a surprise to us."
So it seems they've updated alot of pages and images, and more are on their way. Good stuff.

Phew, long update, but hey, it's weekend and there's nothing like a long read before bed time. =) As for the new applicants, you'll just have to glue yourself with an extra layer of patience, someone will eventually get to it.
