Legacy News #1553
Surprise!
I managed to take a quick break from my exile into Azeroth (World of Warcraft is a soul-destroying beast of a game) to see if my login here still works. And it does. Which is kinda shiny, seeing as I wanted to update and all.
Pity there's nothing here to update yet
So instead, I'll relay the tale of how I was inspired to get back here by members of my WoW guild (Iron Wheel on Ravenholdt-EU). Turns out that a lot of them are retro gamers. The guild leader, Pod, is a huge fan of classic adventure games - so much so that she could even recall Toonstruck!, which makes her one of only two other people I've ever known to have played it. Have any of you played it? A point and click adventure game with Christopher fucking Lloyd playing the main character in live action and animation crossover thing. A lot like the second half of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? only with the guy out of Back to the Future. It was awesome.
Other games were mentioned of course. Some were classics, some were not quite so classic. Naturally, Monkey Island was a bit hit - all the old LucasArts games were. At least one person mentioned Elite as a classic, but even though we had a few Amiga titles mentioned we had nobody to champion Pirates! or Syndicate. Not even Sim City got a mention, though the C64 gem Laser Squad managed to get a cheer.
At least, I imagined it got a cheer. That could also have been the whoops of joy coming from the Troll Mage that jumped me while I was typing. It's always goddamn Mages that get me. That fucking Ice Lance...
Anyway, I guess I'll try and swing by more often. Between work and sleep I don't get much time to myself, but I'll see what I can do.
Keep enjoying the oldies!
