Legacy News #1572
As posted on Abandoneer, I got great news for the community. The DOSBox crew is planning on releasing long-awaited version 0.66 of their popular MS-DOS emulator by the end of this week!
I had the opportunity of playtesting one of the release candidates and, being a config rat as I am, the first and most important changes I've noticed is that it now supposedly detects and dynamically applies the best possible cycles and core definitions on the fly. Manual settings are still available, so it's just win-win!
5th Horseman from Abandonia did further testing on technical details and found its strengths and weaknesses. I'm not going deeply into that kind of detail here, but it has been reported several new compatible games, fixes in the installation process and the playtest of *Quake* on DOSBox. Now that's what I call packing a punch. Anyway when the official release goes live we'll have more information and a full list of new features -- so keep your eyes peeled and check DOSBox at Sourceforge periodically for the download of the newest version.
Abandoneer sends in an update after a long time. Downloads had been down for some weeks, but now they're back! That's good.
Hello, attention, someone at Old Cans! You're sending all updates with the wrong URL -- it must start with "http://". If you don't, your link might become not reachable after your update! Anyway, they've added Soko-ban and Moto racer.
Noodan added, among other stuff, fairly unique Criminal Cartman, featuring the South Park fat kid himself.
C:DOS added lots of new content in one update as usual.
