Legacy News #2014
This "just" in: Thanks to a devoted soul, Mr. Creosote to be exact, most of HoTU's textual material has been preserved in what's namely the "Attic of the Underdogs". Check it out for yourself here. Good work parsing all that info Mr. C!
On the update side, there's always some goodies to be had:
Abandonware DOS shows some nudity of all things with Cover Girl Strip Poker and some violence and guns to go along with it in Chasm: The Rift. From what I've heard, that game sucked horses.
The Saint over at the Abandonware Gazette seems pretty angry at most things these days, and takes a angled look at what state abandonware and its rings are in today. Definitely food for thought.
World of Abandonware wants to show you that scaring is a double-edged word. In their update pool there's Alone in the Dark - you know, the stuff nightmares were made of back in the day, and the most unforgiving piece of cosmic vacuum of a game, Fester's Quest. I remember having this for our NES, and I can't recall any game being this hard nor unforgiving - except ninja gaiden of course. Try shooting those green blobs with that boomerang weapon - It takes forever!
Mr. Oldgames reminds us all that in space, nobody can hear you clean in what's considered one of Sierra's ultimate hallmarks in adventure gaming. Namely Space Quest. Also, amongst earlier updates we find some strategy inspired goodies like Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Sim City and Capitalism.
Until next time, stay updated.
