Legacy News #2033
Easter!
AR, or Abandonia Reloaded adds a Zuma-cloned easter themed game, namely Easter Crisis. You control a white bunny and have to match 3 or more eggs to make them disappear.
C:DOS Abandonware, adds a review for Ascendancy. According to the reviewer, this game is "a turn based space strategy game, sort of in the same family as the Master of Orion series, or Galactic Civilizations.".
DJ Oldgames takes us both back to the island, as well as to the holidays with Jurassic Park and Jazz the Jackrabbit: Holiday Hare 1994 and 1995. Jurassic Park is a mix between a top-down and a first-person shooter with puzzle element. And Jazz? I guess everybody remembers the green rambo hare.
Mr. Oldgames turns to carnage in Carmageddon. You know, run over old ladies, crash cars and grab bonuses? This game was teh stuff in the day.
Old Games For You, at the time of writing the website/server was apparently struggling by serving tons of retro goodies to its users. Therefore, I couldn't see what they updated. Stay tuned for an update.
Starinky wants you to gamble in Ultra Slot. It's exactly what the name implies, a one-armed bandit game, neither more nor less.
We at The DOS Spirit packs a punch in the third dimension with Descent! That's true, that awesome title all 12-year olds played in the day. There was truely something special about navigating halls filled with enemies of complete polygon terror - in complete 360 degrees! Great stuff.
The House of Games adds two games, both featuring James Bond. First is "A View to a Kill", a movie to game adaption with Max Zorin as the bad buy trying to destroy the microchip market by targeting Silicon Valley. The second one is named "James Bond 007: A View to a kill". Don't be fooled though, they're different games, and the latter is a pure text adventure.
World of Abandonware adds Albion, a true classic from Blue Byte from 1995. You control Tom Driscoll, who is a space pilot and on a mission to harvest the resources of a planet called Albion. He's told that there's no or little life down there, but once his ship accidentally crashlands on the planet, he finds out that the truth is quite different - and out there. I never got into this game, but RPG-knowers say it's pure gold.
That's that for this update,
stay retro
