In the world of goo, the goo owns YOU

You may not know it yet, but the world has gotten a new game everyone loves. It's an addictive game for all you contruction fans out there. The World of Goo introduces you to different types of goo balls, which you use to construct a path to the exit (which is a vacuum pipe) so the goo can get one step closer to freedom. I played the demo yesterday, and I must say it's totally brilliant. The graphics and sound are totally through the roof, without having high demands for specs. Made by the indie company called 2D Boy consisting of 2 members - both former Electronic Arts people.
The game is built around the idea of creating large structures using balls of goo. It is based on the prototype game Tower of Goo developed for Kyle Gabler's rapid game prototyping Experimental Gameplay Project.

The game is divided into five chapters, each containing several levels. Each level has its own graphical and musical theme, giving it unique atmosphere. There is also a bonus meta-game called World of Goo Corporation, whose objective is to build the highest tower using goo balls which the player collected through the course of the game. Players from all over the world can compete, as the height of the tower and number of goo balls used are being constantly uploaded to the 2D Boy server.

World of Goo astounds by using simplicity to evolve complexity, and it's so beautifully done you can't do anything but gaze in awe. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail, and from the very beginning you understand that this game has been made with and from love. I highly recommend playing the demo, and if you're one of the millions worldwide who now love Goo more than your grandma you'll know what's best for you by satisfying your Goo-D needs.
