A collection of our news articles and updates, spanning over 20 years!
We had two new applicants and BOTH were currently offline. Ill omen? I'll check back later!
Swizzle's news brought back fond memories... I've always been at the same time interested and frustrated in game building, as there has long been several game-building systems available, all too hard for me to figure out. I had to resign to table-top pen-and-paper roleplaying-game mastering. Back in the days of DC Games, everyone would play a good game made from such engine. Today the same good game would still be good, but even my best friend wouldn't play it if asked him, not without the usual 3D pizzazz of today. *sigh*
I have another release to announce
The author of DC Games (Graphics Adventure Game Builder) has released his work as freeware. I have the complete collection of utilities, source, and documentation available for download at DOS Museum. The current fully functional version is 4.15, and I also have the source and files up for 5.0 which was not completed.
The DC Games application was a "build your own game" utility designed for RPG's which originally came out in 1989 and was updated through ~1997.
Bakkelun beat me to sharing the wonderful Monkey Island news, but he didn't mention all the Nintendo news for console gamers. Nintendo is not only creating a new Mario game for the Wii, but also a new Mario Galaxy, and Metroid game! Finally, they are doing one of my favorites and creating another Mario/Luigi RPG for the DS. I'm looking forward to all of them.
For those (like me) that missed it, back on May 27th v0.73 of DOSBox was released. It's been at least a year since the last update, and this new version contains a huge amount of updates. Be sure to grab a copy!
