A collection of our news articles and updates, spanning over 20 years!
Unfortunately, I got a cold a few days ago so I'm going to make this update on the short side. I will be strolling through here every evening posting updates/additions if none of the other Admin's have. So if you haven't been submitting your site updates on a regular basis now would be a good time to start. Because the list above will finally be getting updated daily again and most of our visitors (at least on their first try) will run to the sites on the front page before they click through into the massive full listing.
Long time since I've posted news here I know. I just got back from a seven day Caribbean cruise and am slowly catching up on work. Maybe I will post a link to some of the pictures I took... Unfortunately I couldn't find any good castles/forts to visit down there. I was only on the islands of St. Thomas and St. Martin so there wasn't that much to visit (besides the beach).
Anyways updates are up so there is plenty for you to do today. A friend of mine told me he would re-program this website for me (although I hear this several times a year) so hopefully that will go through and we can have our portal updated. I don't think this code has been touched since 2000. So we really need an update, not just to catch us up to what a portal should offer today, but also to restore the features we once had, but have stopped working over the years (search, oldwarez list, "report cards" on the sites, site comments, language listings, etc.).
Finally, a little self-promotion, if you haven't visited my new wonderful website DOS.Demu, now is a good time. It's not an abandonware website per-say, what I offer is shareware and freeware DOS titles. What I've noticed over the years is that you can easily find abandonware or oldwarez all across the net, but the original demos and shareware for titles released before Windows XP have virtually disappeared.
Lots of updates, but first... all welcome our new member: The FreeHare! Bunny from Bunny Abandonware should love this carrot-theme!
Which reminds me of the bad news: Bunny announced bunnzy.com's hosting service went under. Now she's on the lookout for a new service, and until then she considers her site officially useless. Not so dramatic dear! How much bandwidth do you need?
Updates:
Goblins added Nectaris, same game added by Abandonia not a week ago by the way.
Abandonia Reloaded added a Road fighter remake... the original was a huge hit in the MSX and other platforms back in the day. Now I can't say I ever really liked the original, but I must agree it's veeery addictive.
House of Games added lots of new manuals!
Abandonware Blog built up on their earlier article inspired by Mr. Creosote's idea of increased interaction and participation in the scene. Muaddib also found Peasant's quest, probably the best online Flash adventure ever, everyone should try it.
Noodan added few more obscure games, as expected.
CDOS added three new games two days ago, I don't know either of them.
The Game Archives keeps adding hundreds to thousands of games per month, they don't even mention the names, far too many.
Finally SubDot added stuff. Abuse is still "adventure". I'll go start an online petition now to change it to the proper genre on SubDot's listing, be right back.
